New – Mon Guerlain

Earlier this year Guerlain announced Angelina Jolie as the face & icon of Guerlain’s newest fragrance creation Mon Guerlain. Jolie, the actress, filmmaker and humanitarian donated her salary from the campaign to charity. The perfume’s creator, Guerlain’s master perfumer, Thierry Wasser describes the fragrance as “the choices, emotions and dreams that embody modern femininity”.

Since its foundation in 1828, Maison Guerlain has led the way in the creation of ground-breaking and revolutionary fragrances. Jicky, created in 1889, was one of the 1st fragrances to use both natural and synthetic ingredients and considering the number of new fragrances released each year, is remarkably still in production today. Thierry Wasser succeeded Jean-Paul Guerlain in 2008 is the 5th generation of in-house perfumer for Guerlain.

While Mon Guerlain is not the 1st fragrance by Wasser, it is arguable his most significant in that it is a unique creation which will undoubtably become a mainstay in the company’s fragrance collection. The signing of Angelina Jolie has guaranteed the fragrance’s reach to a global audience but as you would expect from Guerlain, the fragrance lives up to the hype.

Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum is classed as a Fresh Oriental fragrance and contains Carla Lavender from Provence (typically used in masculine fragrance), Tahitensis Vanilla (also found in Shalimar, Habit Rouge & Jicky), Sambec Jasmine from India and Album Sandalwood from Australia. Mixing fresh, feminine and masculine notes makes this fragrance truely modern while respecting the company’s heritage.

Even the bottle for Mon Guerlain showcases the company’s heritage by using the Quadrilobe bottle. Designed by Aime Guerlain’s brother, Gabriel Guerlain in 1908, it was his interpretation of the alchemist’s bottle and was first produced for the fragrance Rue de la Paix and most famously re-used for Jicky. The Quadrilobe bottle gets its name from the stopper which is created from a solid shape and resembles four lobes. In the book ‘Guerlain Bottles since 1828’, Jean-Paul Guerlain wrote, “At a time when most perfumers did not think of bottles as anything but a simple container, my ancestors quickly understood the subtle relationship that linked the bottle and its precious contents”.

Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum is available in 30ml, 50ml & 100ml sizes alongside 200ml Shower Gel and 200ml Body Lotion.
