YSL Mon Paris

I must admit Yves Saint Laurent fragrances where never really to the forefront of my mind that was until the launch of the Black Opium range in 2014 and especially the 2016 Black Opium Nuit Blanche. Now the new YSL Mon Paris is being added to the must purchase list.

Personally, Mon Paris is at its best as the middle floral heart and chypre base notes come to the fore. The fruity start which I can take or leave comes from the top notes of Bergamot, Strawberry, Raspberry & Pear. Middle notes contain Peony, Chinese & Sambac Jasmine, Orange Blossom and the interesting choice of Datura Flower also know as Devil’s Trumpets (the plant is poisonous with flowers of trumpet shape). The base notes include 3 types of White Musk, Ambroxan and Patchouli from Indonesia & Guatemala. The noses behind this fragrance are Olivier Cresp, Harry Fremont and Dora Baghriche-Arnaud. The bottle is beautifully adorned with cool black ribbon and leather ties.

The ad staring Canadian model Crista Cober wearing ‘Le Smoking’ (female tuxedo which Saint Laurent was accredited with creating) and French actor Jeremie Laheurte was directed by French duo Clément Durou and Pierre Dupaquier and is a tour of Paris. The still was photographed by Billy Kidd. The inspiration for the ad is the same inspiration for the fragrance. “Capturing the spirit of an intense love affair, YSL Beauté introduces Mon Paris perfume – a new expression of love today, inspired by the city of lovers, Paris.” It transports us through the city of light featuring the Metro, the Eiffel Tower and the roof of the iconic Opéra Garnier.

YSL Mon Paris is available as Eau de Parfum in 30ml, 50ml & 90ml.
