I have very fond memories of visiting The Body Shop in Henry Street in Dublin and purchasing the all important bottle of White Musk, a fragrance launched back in 1981 which can certainly claim iconic status now. The Body Shop was mecca to my teenage self and I never left without something from the Dewberry range as well.
In recent years The Body Shop have extended the Musk range to include White Musk Smoky Rose and Red Musk but by far my favourite of these more modern fragrances is the recently launched Black Musk.
This gorgeous oriental scent opens with Bambinella pear, pink pepper and bergamot, followed by liquorice root, heliotrope and ylang ylang. The base notes include the all important black musk alongside black vanilla and patchouli. Black Musk is a scent with envelopes you with a sense of warmth that draws you in and makes you want to come back for more.
Cecile Matton & Ralf Schwieger are the master perfumers behind this fragrance and Ralf says “Putting on the Musks feels like wearing a fluffy fragrant cloud, some are innocent white ones, some have a stormier inner core”.
Black Musk is a modern day fragrance from The Body Shop while maintaining its roots with the cruelty-free musk as a key ingredient. Black Musk is available as an Eau de Toilette 60ml, Eau de Parfum 50ml and a perfume oil 20ml in a gorgeous ink black bottle with a hint of pink label making the bottle almost as irresistible as the scent itself.
